Terms of Service

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Dossiq, a personal document management service operated by Criterion Digital LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

Dossiq is currently in closed beta. Access is by invitation only.

2. The Service

Dossiq provides:

• Secure cloud storage for personal documents
• OCR text extraction to make documents searchable
• AI-powered document classification and data extraction (optional, requires consent)
• Smart Actions — AI-suggested follow-up actions based on document content (optional, requires consent)
• Organization tools including categories, modules (vehicles, health, financial, etc.), tasks, and reminders

3. Your Account

• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your login credentials
• You must be at least 18 years old to use Dossiq
• One account per person — do not share accounts

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Your Documents and Data

4.1 Ownership

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload to Dossiq. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. We use your documents solely to provide the service as described in our Privacy Policy.

4.2 Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the content you upload. By uploading documents, you represent that:

• You have the legal right to upload and store the documents
• Documents containing other people's personal data (family members, healthcare providers, etc.) are uploaded in accordance with applicable data protection laws
• You will not upload illegal, malicious, or harmful content
• You will not attempt to reverse-engineer, exploit, or abuse the service

4.3 AI Processing

If you enable AI document analysis, the text extracted from your documents is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes this data according to their API terms and does not use it for model training. You can disable AI processing at any time, and Dossiq will function as secure document storage without AI features.

5. Beta Service Disclaimer

Dossiq is in closed beta. This means:

• No warranty: The service is provided "as is" without any warranties, express or implied. We do not guarantee uptime, data availability, or the accuracy of AI analysis.
• Data loss risk: While we take reasonable precautions to protect your data, beta software may have bugs. We strongly recommend keeping original copies of all documents you upload.
• Service changes: We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time during the beta period.
• Feedback: We welcome your feedback. Any feedback you provide may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

6. Usage Limits & Fair Use

Dossiq offers different service tiers, each with specific usage allowances designed to be generous for normal household use.

6.4 Fair Use

If you consistently exceed your plan's processing limits, we may:

• Queue excess documents for processing the following day
• Notify you and suggest upgrading to a higher tier
• In extreme cases, temporarily reduce processing speed

6.5 Changes to Limits

We may adjust plan limits as the service evolves. If we materially reduce the limits for your current plan, we will provide 30 days' notice and honor your existing limits through the end of your current billing period.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use Dossiq for any illegal purpose
• Upload content that infringes on others' rights
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Interfere with or disrupt the service
• Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-access the service
• Resell or redistribute access to the service

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Criterion Digital LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, during the free beta period, is zero).

9. Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. During the beta period, account deletion is processed manually within 7 days. Upon deletion, all your documents, extracted data, AI analyses, and linked records are permanently removed.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Dossiq after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. For users in the EU/EEA, nothing in these Terms affects your rights under mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence, including GDPR.
